A woman has raised funds for a cancer charity by giving a lecture on the history of handbags.
Brass PendantSue Howard, a marketing manager from Whitley Bay, began collecting handbags more than 20 years ago. She now has more than 100 bags dated from 1880 onwards.
The lecture took place in Eccles Hall in Earsdon Village, with the collection of handbags on display. More than 50 women attended the talk about the history of the handbag and the event raised pounds high power led bulbs 110 for Macmillan

Susan said: "Since losing my father to lung cancer in 2003, I have given monthly donations to Macmillan as a way of thanking them and to contribute to the care of people living with cancer."
