FOXBORO - There aren't many statistics that coach Bill Belichick considers to be vital in football.

First and foremost is wins. Points scored and allowed are next on his short list. Turnover differential and red zone execution also deserve a mention.

The thing with stats is, like appearances, they can be deceiving. Like your kid sister, they're easily manipulated.

For instance, the Patriots were tied with Carolina for 23rd in the league in sacks last season with 31. In 2008, they finished 14th - again with 31.

The number that matters most in this case isn't league ranking, but the total. A total of 31 sacks wasn't sufficient either season and was a direct indication of the Patriots' inability to disrupt the pocket and pressure the quarterback with any regularity.

Thing is, you don't have to bring the quarterback down. But you're going down if you consistently allow him to go about his business at his own pace.

All of which has led to one of the oft-asked questions of this summer in New England: Where is the pass rush going to come from?

It was only one preseason game, but the Patriots provided an early, favorable glimpse of where they might be headed in that regard in their 27-24 win over the New Orleans Saints last night at Gillette Stadium.

We need to first cut benefits for children whose parents, after all, only gave birth as a means to receive monthly food stamps. Helping freeloading children (who are not even taxpaying citizens) amounts to socialism. We must deny food and health care to disadvantaged children and uphold our Christian-capitalist values as a nation.

Quickly round up and deport all illegal immigrants, or put them to work cleaning up America's toxic waste sites or, perhaps, our industrial agricultural fields, spraying the toxic LED spotlight pesticides our chemical-industry lobby assures lawmakers are safe (and yield large crops of campaign donations).

Since banning such deadly toxins would threaten free enterprise, employing illegals to disperse them would both protect capitalism and abbreviate the life span of this unwanted population.

We should also encourage debt-laden localities to eliminate police departments by expanding Second Amendment rights and eliminating all gun-control laws. Law-enforcement should be replaced with militia and self-appointed vigilantes. Street gangs have already proven willing to police inner cities.

We must not allow the Bush tax cuts to expire. Otherwise, the wealthiest top 2 percent of Americans could not afford another summer home nor could they buy a larger yacht and thereby fuel the trickle-down effect an unencumbered free-market system provides. We must not bring this suffering upon the ruling members of our oligarchy (former democracy).

We must not tackle the trade imbalance with China, nor must we look into the imbalance of the North American Free Trade Agreement. We must not penalize those companies that ship jobs to foreign countries where there is an abundance of cheap labor, then import the finished goods back into this country duty free. Such regulation would encumber the free market.

Until now, a recording of the National Anthem has been played at the monthly ceremonies, which also involve a very English cup of tea.

But the latest gathering at the Guildhall featured the singing of God Save The Queen by the choir of St Mary's Church at Bathwick.

The choir was brought in by Bath and North East Somerset Council chairman Councillor Sarah Bevan after she heard members singing at an event to unveil a new memorial by the charity RoadPeace in the city centre.

The ceremonies give UK citizenship to foreign nationals who have to signal their allegiance both to the Queen and the country's democratic principles.

They take place in the Guildhall on the third Wednesday of every month throughout the year.

Ms Bevan said: "We have so many talented local choirs in our area, it seemed a great shame to play a recording of our National Anthem instead of encouraging new members of our community to enjoy the experience of real singing and join in.

"I heard St Mary's Choir singing at the RoadPeace ceremony and realised that if the singers could sound that good in the open air, they would be ideal as the resident choir for these ceremonies."

All new citizens taking part are invited to take tea and biscuits afterwards in the chairman's room where they sign the visitors' book as a permanent record of their new status.

The choir is also often called on to sing at cremations at Haycombe Cemetery and will perform at the Chairman's Civic Service on October 10 at St John's Parish Church, Peasedown St John.

The odd couple have to escape to the murky, steamy swamps of the Bayou and there they begin a journey of learning to love each other - made slightly more complicated now they have to catch food with their tongues.

Up until this tiffany heart link bracelet point, the film is energetic and colourful, with the animation matched only by the quick, sharp script.

The film relishes its time and place, romanticising the Big Easy with fabulous jazz numbers, including a giant alligator with a gift for the trumpet, and pouring its love into luscious detail. But the old Disney problems of a slow middle section and moralistic final third resurface and a few plot threads, while adding emotion, slow the pace at times.

But songs are as catchy as ever and the acting spot-on.

When you're out fishing this spring and summer, remember to keep an eye open for docks. They're fish magnets. Wooden docks in particular are good, as they're generally covered with algae, which attracts small baitfish and bluegills looking for food and cover. They, in turn, attract larger predators like bass, who can rest in the dock's shade when they aren't feeding. If the dock is in or close to deeper water, so much the better, as rising and falling water levels won't impact fish movement too much. Fish docks by flipping and skipping artificial lures and by floating live baits around their edges.
